Lead Paint Services:
The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) estimates that 75% of the houses built in the U.S. before 1978 contain some amount of lead-based paint. In 1991, the Secretary of HUD characterized lead poisoning as the number one environmental threat to children's health in the United States.

The EPA requires that all dwellings built prior to 1978 are subject to certain disclosure rules regarding the presence of lead prior to sale or rental of the dwelling. For owners of four or more residential dwellings, the federal requirements became applicable on September 6, 1996. For owners of up to four residential dwellings, the requirements became applicable on December 6, 1996.

WHERE IS LEAD FOUND?
Lead is a soft, bluish metal found in the Earth's crust. It is virtually indestructible and is non-biodegradable.

Manufacturers have used lead in many different products, including paint, batteries, water pipes, solder, pottery and gasoline.

Lead-based paint that is not intact can be hazardous. People are exposed to lead through lead-paint based chips and flakes, as well as through fine lead dust that forms. It can get on carpets, floors, furniture, toys and other objects, as well as on the hands of children and adults in the home, therefore becoming a health hazard.
